In his role as Chief Operating Officer (COO) of Chugach Alaska Corporation (Chugach), Peter Andersen oversees growth strategy and operations for Chugach’s portfolio of businesses and investments, as well as the corporate Business Enterprise functions that support them. Peter also currently serves as Chugach’s Interim President, responsible for leading the corporation’s Alaska Native Claims Settlement Act (ANCSA) land management and resource development strategy, strengthening community relationships and resources within the Chugach region, and protecting and preserving Chugach’s cultural heritage. In both capacities, he serves as a key member of Chugach’s executive leadership team responsible for advancing the corporation’s overarching strategic plan.
With a career spanning 25 years of leadership in the maritime and oilfield services industries, Peter has spent a decade with Chugach, most recently served as Sr. Vice President of Operations and then President of Chugach’s commercial division, Chugach Commercial Holdings (CCH). He also held the position of President of Chugach Alaska Services, which provides oil spill response and staffing for the oil and gas industry. Throughout his tenure, he has successfully led a dedicated workforce of professionals and subject matter experts in providing operations, maintenance, safety, and training services to large, complex organizations. Earlier in his career, Peter held senior leadership positions at UIC Arctic Response Services and Alyeska Pipeline Service Company.
A lifelong Alaskan and Chugach shareholder born and raised in Cordova, Alaska, Peter spent many years as a commercial fisherman in Prince William Sound, Kodiak Island, and the Bering Sea. He has found many ways over the years of giving back and building community from serving on the board of the Providence Foundation to his current board role on the Prince William Sounds Science Center. He and wife Karie have two daughters and one granddaughter.
